Pastor Steve met Terry Jeanine Palmer in the fall of 1982 while stationed at Seymour Johnson AFB, Goldsboro, NC and they married in November of 1983.  They have two daughters, Krystle King Raynor an Elementary Education teacher who is married to Paul Franklin Raynor and Leanna Marie King an Art major with a concentration in Graphic design at The University of North Carolina, Charlotte.

Beginning in 1985, Steven began his undergraduate education while working part time and completed his Associates of Applied Science degree in 1992 and graduated from Wayland Baptist University, Anchorage, Alaska campus, in 1995.  Having sensed a called to ministry at an early age, he responded to God’s call in 1998 and began Seminary education that fall.  Working part-time he completed 22 of the 30 required classes before retiring in 2007.  Upon retirement from the Air Force, he attended and completed the final requirements in May 2008 for a Masters of Divinity degree from the Lutheran Theological Seminary at Philadelphia.

Upon graduation, Steven was assigned to a two parish internship at Augsburg Lutheran church in Winston-Salem, NC and the Lutheran Church of the Resurrection in Greensboro, NC.  Upon completion of his internship, Steven was called to Bethel Evangelical Lutheran church, Lincolnton, NC in March 2010.  Upon receiving his first call, he was Ordained in March 2010.
