been serving people in northern
Gaston County, North Carolina since 1790. Bethel provides a place to
gather for Worship, Christian learning, and fellowship. Bethel has opportunities
for loving service, witness, and support for the community, its members, and the
whole church on earth. Bethel's mission is to spiritually uplift and serve the
community, working to show the
love of Jesus Christ to all. Bethel welcomes everyone with open arms.You

Bethel Lutheran Church is located near Pasour's Mountain at
the gap. Reverand Johann Friedrich Doubbert was an early religious influence in
the Bethel Church.
He had received a land grant for 200 acres on April 16,
1765 and most certainly established a church at the gap of Pasour's Mountain
Our 1st Church was built of logs and was located on the
west side of Old Dallas Cherryville Road on the first knoll north of the gap.
Our 1st Church also had a cemetery but it is no longer
visible.
