About Bethel Lutheran Church

"In daily response to the Gospel, Bethel Lutheran church has been serving people in northern Gaston County, North Carolina since 1790. Bethel provides a place to gather for Worship, Christian learning, and fellowship. Bethel has opportunities for loving service, witness, and support for the community, its members, and the whole church on earth. Bethel's mission is to spiritually uplift and serve the community, working to show the love of Jesus Christ to all. Bethel welcomes everyone with open arms. You are welcome to become a part of Bethel's ministry."

Bethel Lutheran Church is located near Pasour's Mountain at the gap. Reverand Johann Friedrich Doubbert was an early religious influence in the Bethel Church.

He had received a land grant for 200 acres on April 16, 1765 and most certainly established a church at the gap of Pasour's Mountain

Our 1st Church was built of logs and was located on the west side of Old Dallas Cherryville Road on the first knoll north of the gap.

Our 1st Church also had a cemetery but it is no longer visible.
